About
I created a brand for a monthly spiritual/relaxation box, customized to the users' astrology signs. This brand is called good karma.
I used Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Process
Research
My goal was to create a monthly spiritual/relaxation box, customized to the users' astrology signs. I compared seven existing mindfulness or astrological subscription box services to guide my research and design.
I created a competitive map, and found that:
Many existing brands incorporate moons/celestial elements or lotus-like shapes.
Not many subscription services are customizable.
The brands I found didn’t incorporate personal astrology.
I created a mind map to visualize ideas, themes, and aspects that I wanted to draw inspiration from or incorporate into my brand.
Brand Story
At goodkarma, we embrace the notion that everything and everyone is connected in one way or another, and the energy you put out will find its way back to you. Our monthly spiritual and self care subscription box will empower you to take control of the most important thing in your life--you. In other words, we believe that as you grow, change, and evolve internally, your external reality will change and grow as a result.
While we navigate through the world post COVID, we recognize the struggle women continue to face in the form of domestic- and intimate-partner violence. While we reward you for taking care of yourself, we’ll pay that energy forward by donating a portion of our proceeds to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Customized by your astrology sign, each box is curated especially for you with unique products that will help you set intentions for each month, reset your mindset, and create balance in your life. Boxes will include journals with daily affirmations and customized horoscopes, self-care goodies, tools for guided meditations and rituals, and more. All of our packaging is made out of recycled materials, with products locally or small-business sourced, as well as paraben-free and cruelty-free products.
Design Ideation
After creating a mood board, I came up with a handful of sketches for the logo design.
Digital Iterations
I experimented with five different typefaces while creating the digital sketches, exploring different variations in text, shapes and styles.

Corporate Design: Digital Sketches
After receiving critique and feedback from peers and mentors, I created digital sketches for each of my corporate designs.

Final Thoughts
I had a lot of fun with this project and was excited about creating a brand from start to finish. I learned a lot about what makes a successful and memorable logo design, and how to create a cohesive brand identity that can be represented through a variety of forms and products.
I was able to get more experience using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
